Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated LaboratoryTechnician to join our Science Departmentin a permanent role commencing 27 January2027. This role will be 40 hours per week for 40 weeks peryear, equivalent to 0.8659 FTE with 12 weeks of paidleave.
n
The successful candidate will work with science teachers andother laboratory staff to prepare and supply materials to ensurethat students have safe and engaging practical learningexperiences.
n
Key Responsibilities Include:
n
n
- Prepare and set up chemicals, materials and equipment forpractical experiments and classroom demonstrations.
n
- Provide practical support before, during and afterexperiments, working closely with teaching staff to ensuresuccessful delivery.
n
- Support and improve experimental procedures by identifyingpractical solutions and raising safety considerations.
n
- Maintain laboratory equipment through routine servicing,calibration, repairs and hazard reporting.
n
- Ensure the safe storage, organisation and management ofchemicals, hazardous materials and laboratory facilities.
n
- Manage chemical and hazardous waste disposal in accordancewith established guidelines, protocols and safetyrequirements.
n
- Demonstrates a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christand is an active member of a Christian Church,
living inaccordance with the Association's Statement of Faith andEducational Objectives.
n
- TAFE qualification in Laboratory Practices (or equivalent)and relevant experience in a school or laboratoryenvironment.
n
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, chemicalhandling, storage, disposal requirements, and legislativecompliance standards.
n
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability toaccurately prepare, organise and maintain laboratory equipment,materials and resources.
n
- Highly organised and team-oriented, with excellent timemanagement skills and a strong commitment to laboratorysafety.
n
- Holds, or is willing to obtain, a Working with ChildrenCheck, and Department of Education Criminal HistoryClearance.
n
