nAbout the rolen
nCHEEMA BRISBANE PTY LTD is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Telecommunications Network Planner to join our team at our Coopers Plains location in Brisbane.n
n
nThe successful applicant will plan the development of customer access telecommunications network infrastructure, provide technical advice and support, and monitor the performance of our telecommunications networks and equipment. This is a full-time, ongoing position of 38 hours per week.n
n
nKey duties and responsibilitiesn
n•Planning the development of customer access telecommunications network infrastructure, including capacity, coverage, hardware and software requirementsn
n•Analysing network requirements and forecasting future capacity needs to design and schedule network upgrades and expansionsn
n•Installing, maintaining, repairing and diagnosing malfunctions in microwave, telemetry, multiplexing, satellite and other radio and electromagnetic wave communication systemsn
n•Configuring and integrating network and telecommunications technology with computer software, hardware, desktops, peripherals, databases and operating systemsn
n•Providing technical advice and information to clients, contractors and internal teams, and monitoring the performance of complex telecommunications networks and equipmentn
n•Providing ongoing operational support in designing, optimising, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing and resolving telecommunications network performance malfunctions,
defects and faultsn
n•Developing and recording logs of the details, locations and status of inventories, parts, equipment and instrumentsn
n•Maintaining documentation of communications policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations, and quality standardsn
n•Liaising with vendors, suppliers, service providers and external resources, and monitoring contractual obligations and performance deliveryn
n•Ensuring all network planning and installation work complies with relevant Australian telecommunications standards, regulations and workplace health and safety requirementsn
n•Preparing estimates of time, materials and cost for network planning projects and coordinating with technical teams during implementationn
n
nSkills and experience requiredn
n
nEssentialn
n•An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in telecommunications, network engineering, electronics, information technology or a closely related discipline (ANZSCO Skill Level 2); or at least three years of relevant work experience and/or relevant vendor certification in lieu of the formal qualificationn
n•A minimum of one year of relevant experience in telecommunications network planning, design or technical supportn
n•Sound working knowledge of telecommunications network infrastructure, transmission systems and customer access networksn
n•Ability to interpret network designs, technical drawings and specificationsn
n•Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and analytical skillsn
n•Accurate documentation and record-keeping skillsn
n•Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to liaise with vendors, clients and internal teamsn
n•Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlinesn
n
nDesirablen
n•Relevant vendor certifications (for example Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei or equivalent)n
n•Experience with network planning, design or GIS toolsn
n•Knowledge of Australian telecommunications standards and regulatory requirementsn
n•A current Australian driver's licencen
