About the Role: This is a senior technical leadership opportunity for an experienced AWS Cloud Application Engineer who enjoys staying hands-on with technology. n
nThe business is seeking a Principal Engineer to provide technical direction while continuing to contribute directly to software development, cloud architecture and engineering projects. n
nYou will initially lead a small team with the opportunity to help grow the team over time. n
Key Responsibilities: n

n
- Lead and mentor a small team of software and cloud engineers.
n
- Remain hands-on and contribute to software development, architecture and code reviews.
n
- Design, develop and maintain scalable AWS cloud applications.
n
- Lead cloud architecture and technical design decisions.
n
- Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.
n
- Drive CI/CD,



DevOps and automated software delivery practices.
n
- Build and support containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
n
- Establish software engineering standards, best practices and development processes.
n
- Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of the engineering team.
n
- Collaborate with product, hardware and software engineering teams.
n
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across application, backend and cloud environments.
n
- Improve system scalability, reliability, security and performance.
n
- Modernise existing systems and development practices where appropriate.
n
- Contribute to the company's broader technology and product strategy.
n

n Qualifications: n

n
- 10-20 years of software engineering experience, with significant cloud application experience.
n
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and architecture.
n
- Proven experience designing and developing production-grade cloud applications.
n
- Strong software development and programming fundamentals.
n
- Experience with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
n
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
n
- Solid understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices.
n




- Experience with distributed systems and scalable application architectures.
n
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or technically guiding engineers.
n
- Strong system-design and software architecture capabilities.
n
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
n
- Comfortable being a hands-on technical contributor, rather than moving exclusively into management.
n
