About the Service

Medicare Mental Health Centre (MMHC) Canterbury is an adult mental health centre offering a welcoming, low-stigma entry point for individuals experiencing distress or crisis. The centre delivers short- to medium-term episodes of care, connecting people to ongoing support through service navigation and collaborative care planning.

Our service is preparing to move into a larger, purpose‐built centre and will soon operate seven days a week. As we grow, we're seeking team members who can offer flexibility,
including weekend and afternoon shifts, to help us provide consistent, high‐quality care.

About the role
n
We are seeking a highly organised, qualified and approachable Administrative Assistant for a Full Time fixed term, contract in the Roselands area. As the first point of contact for Canterbury Medicare Mental Health, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience for everyone who connects with our service. Reporting to the Operations Lead, you will greet visitors, manage phone enquiries and provide a range of administrative support to help our team operate smoothly. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, building positive relationships and keeping things organised in a supportive and community-focused environment.

Key responsibilities
n
n
- Greet and assist walk ins in a professional and courteous manner.
n
- Manage check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accurate data entry.
n
- Address inquiries and concerns via phone, email and in walk ins promptly, directing them to appropriate staff when required.
n
- Escalate complex matters to Operations Lead, Centre Manager and Clinical Lead.
n
- Assist the Centre Manager in basic administrative duties such as minute taking and assistance with the preparation of reports to external stakeholders.

What you'll bring
n
n
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Cert III) are required in Administration or other related field as designated by ODMH.
n
- Demonstrated experience in providing administrative support with attention to detail and accuracy.
n
- Ability to organise and prioritise work while managing competing deadlines.
n
- High level of communication skills, both written and verbal with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
n
- Sound IT competence with Microsoft programs, client management systems, and the ability to adapt to new systems as they are introduced.
