We are looking for an experiencedSenior Network Engineerto join our team and take ownership of the design, optimisation, migration, implementation and lifecycle management of a large, multi-site network environment.
n
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise inCisco routing and switching, combined with experience managing complex, legacy and poorly documented network environments. You will be responsible for taking initiatives fromcurrent-state assessment and target-state design through change approval, implementation, validation and closure.
n
This is a hands-on engineering role that requires strong technical judgement, structured problem-solving and the ability to deliver safe, resilient changes across business-critical networks.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Assess existing network infrastructure, services, traffic patterns, utilisation and dependencies across multiple sites.
n
- Analyse existing network architecture and make recommendations toretain, consolidate, scale down, migrate, refresh or retireinfrastructure.
n
- Develop target-state network designs and detailed migration strategies, considering:n n
- Network resilience and availability
n
- Capacity and performance
n
- Connectivity and routing
n
- Management and out-of-band access
n
- Operational and business impact
n
n
- Validate technical requirements, assumptions and dependencies with platform owners, service owners, project managers and other stakeholders.
n
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, including:n
n
- High-Level and Low-Level Designs
n
- Network diagrams
n
- Implementation plans
n
- Risk and impact assessments
n
- Validation/test plans
n
- Rollback and backout procedures
n
n
- Own network changes end-to-end through thechange-management and CAB process.
n
- Perform hands-on configuration, troubleshooting and implementation of:n
n
- Routing and switching
n
- WAN/LAN connectivity
n
- VLANs and trunking
n
- Routing protocols
n
- Network management and access services
n
n
- Lead or support the migration and retirement of legacy technologies, includingX.25, serial connectivity, terminal servers and console servers.
n
- Coordinate implementation activities with field engineers, remote-hands teams, network carriers and third-party service providers.
n
- Ensure all operational records are accurately maintained, including:n
n
- IPAM
n
- DNS
n
- AAA
n
- SNMP/syslog/NTP
n
- CMDB
n
- Asset records
n
- Circuit and connectivity records
n
n
- Monitor implementation progress and provide senior-level technical escalation and troubleshooting support during critical changes.
n
- Analyse network configurations, traffic flows, monitoring data, logs and packet captures to identify root causes and design improvements.
n
- Identify opportunities to simplify network architecture, reduce technical debt, improve resilience and optimise operational costs.
n
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to network engineers and implementation teams.
n
n
Required Technical Experience
n
n
- 6+ years of hands-on network engineering experience, with proven ownership of assessment, design, change and implementation activities.
n
- Strong hands‐on experience withCisco IOS and IOS‐XE.
n
- Strong understanding and troubleshooting experience with:n n
- OSPF

- BGP

- Static Routing

- VRFs

- VLANs

- 802.1Q Trunking

- Spanning Tree Protocol

- First-Hop Redundancy Protocols

- Proven experience developingtarget-state network designs and migration strategiesfor consolidation, scale-down, refresh, migration and infrastructure retirement.

- Strong understanding of network resilience, capacity planning, service dependencies and business impact.

- Experience working withlegacy and end‐of‐life network technologies, particularly:n

- Good knowledge of network management and out‐of‐band access technologies, including:n

- Experience using network monitoring, documentation, diagramming,IPAM and CMDBtools.
n
- Excellent stakeholder communication, technical decision‐making and risk‐management skills.

- Experience working in alarge enterprise, service‐provider, carrier or multi‐site network environment.

- CCNP certificationor equivalent hands‐on technical expertise.
n
- Network automation experience usingPython, Ansible or similar technologies.
