Halcol Energy is one of Queensland's leading solar and battery installation companies, delivering high quality renewable energy solutions to residential and commercial customers. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and detail oriented Internal Accountant to join our team and play a key role in managing the financial operations of our business.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, you will be responsible for the day to day financial management of the business while providing accurate reporting and strategic financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all internal accounting functions across the business
- Prepare monthly management reports and financial statements
- Monitor cash flow and provide forecasting and budgeting analysis
- All accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Reconcile bank accounts, supplier accounts, and balance sheet items
- Inventory & Supply Chain - Managing warehouse stock control and handling costs for large capital items
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, payroll tax, and other statutory obligations
- Monitor project profitability and job costing
- Assist with annual budgeting and financial planning
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes, and controls
- Provide financial support and advice to management and operational teams
- Travel will be required at times between different office locations
About You To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Proven experience as an Internal Accountant, Company Accountant, or Senior Accountant
- Previous experience working within a large renewable energy business or similar
- Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and cash flow management
- Excellent knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements
- Experience with accounting software Xero
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Solid analytical and problem solving abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
- Unrestricted Australian work rights
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA or CA qualification (or working towards)
- Experience within the solar and battery industry highly regarded
