An opportunity has arisen for an Applications Technologist in ADM, North Ryde as a 12-month maternity contractor. The job holder will be involved in the development of product concepts to support both customer driven and pro-active projects, maintaining the laboratory and supporting the sales team in delivering on expectations of key accounts primarily focusing on the Beverage categories.
Your Responsibilities
- Follows basic GMP, ISO Procedures and Safety, Lab and/or other electronic record keeping tools and maintain superior safety and hygiene standards.
- Apply ingredients from across the ADM portfolio to develop innovative concepts, reformulate and prepare application prototypes for customers to demonstrate ADM product and ingredient capabilities.
- Be versed in the latest processing methods, packaging and stability of Beverage samples.
- Apply food technology knowledge into formula development, processing equipment, raw materials and flavour selection, routine analysis, sensory evaluation, taste panelling, etc.
- Demonstrates and maintains knowledge of ANZ beverage markets and industry relevant trends
- Conduct and coordinate internal product evaluation and sensory testing.
- Prepare detailed and accurate product information for customers using available IT tools and information sources. Provides accurate information for demo sheets/C of A’s and formulations
- Provide technical support to Key Account and Market Managers
- Collaborate with PD&A;, Flavour Creation, Sales and Marketing teams to achieve on-time completion of tasks
- Maintain laboratory raw materials and consumables. Evaluates and recommends new sources of raw materials and laboratory tools.
- Trouble-shoot any issues regarding formulations/manufacturing procedures, etc. Makes recommendations and implements them based on research.
- Coordination of sample shipments with shipping department in accordance to customer/salesperson guidelines
- Performs multiple tasks daily by supporting multiple ACMs, Identifies higher priority needs and re-arranges daily workload of self and others.
- Represent the company at meetings, exhibitions, seminars and courses as required by management.
- Prepare regular reports on a weekly or monthly basis as required by management.
- Support the technical and application team who needs to provide technical support to the ADM Sales teams, distributors and its customers in ANZ regarding the application product issues that may be faced.
- Support customer developments by assisting the technical and application team who are providing application formulations and support the subsequent commercialisation of these products through involvement in plant trials if required.
- Maintain a database of prototype developments.
- Co-operate with Flavourists on the specific flavour requirements for applications the employee may be working on.
- Assist Portfolio with flavour application, the subsequent evaluation of these flavours and finished product stability testing from a flavour perspective.
- Assist Portfolio by identifying gaps and providing solutions. Work closely with Portfolio by providing information in regard to dosage, profile and suitability in application of the flavour collection
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, major in Food Technology/Science
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Well organized with ability to be a good project leader and solid team player
- High level of analytical thinking with strong self-initiative
- High ethical standards and integrity, ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with ease
- High adaptability
- Be innovative and think beyond the box to identify solutions and initiatives
