True Painting & Decorating is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Apprentice Painter to join our team in Williamtown, NSW. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin a rewarding career in the painting and decorating industry. As an apprentice, you will work full-time, gaining hands-on experience alongside experienced professionals while completing your formal qualifications.
This role is ideal for someone keen to develop practical skills, learn industry best practices, and build a solid foundation for a long-term career in painting and decorating.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting experienced painters with interior and exterior painting projects
- Preparing surfaces including cleaning, sanding, filling and priming walls and woodwork
- Applying paint using various techniques and tools such as brushes, rollers and spray equipment
- Mixing paints and ensuring correct colour matching and consistency
- Setting up and maintaining work areas, including protecting floors and furniture
- Following health and safety procedures and maintaining a clean and tidy work environment
- Learning to use and maintain painting equipment and tools correctly
- Assisting with decorative finishes and wallpapering where required
- Completing on-the-job training whilst working towards your formal painting qualifications
- Communicating effectively with supervisors, colleagues and customers
What we're looking for
- Year 10 or equivalent education as a minimum
- A strong work ethic and commitment to completing an apprenticeship
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople
- Good attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual and professional attitude
- Basic communication and teamwork skills
- A valid driver's licence is advantageous
- No prior painting experience necessary – we will provide full training
