About the Opportunity

John Paul College is one of Queensland's largest independent co-educational schools, providing a seamless learning journey from Early Learning to Year 12 across our 33-hectare campus in Daisy Hill.

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant/Finance Officer to join our Finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller via the Senior Accountant. This is a hands-on bookkeeping and accounting support role, ideal for someone who enjoys accurate, methodical processing work and is happy to be a flexible backup across our key finance functions, including payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Formal accounting qualifications are desirable but not essential. We are open to full time or part-time (0.8 FTE) arrangements, worked across 4 or 5 days per week.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain the General Ledger, journals and reconciliations

· Prepare monthly bank and ledger reconciliations

· Maintain asset registers and apply correct GST treatment

· Support the termly fee run and corporate credit card administration

· Backup AR and AP Officers, including cover during short-term leave

· Support payroll processing, timesheets, leave data entry and accuracy checks

· Assist with new starters, terminations and pay/leave changes

· Assist with financial reports, annual statements and the FBT return

· Support ongoing accounting system maintenance with discretion around sensitive information

About You

You'll bring:

· Demonstrated experience in an accounting, bookkeeping or finance support role

· A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with a strong understanding of finance data processing

· A sound understanding of GST compliance and relevant financial regulations





· Strong computer literacy, with advanced Excel skills highly regarded

· A flexible, team-oriented approach, happy to step in as backup across payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as needed

· Formal accounting qualifications are desirable but not essential, and candidates not seeking further CPA/CA progression are welcome

· Availability to work 4 or 5 days per week, full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE)
