This is a new and exciting opportunity for a qualified Assistant Accountant to join our Finance department on a permanent and full-time basis.
The Assistant
Accountant will provide hands-on financial support across reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and compliance, under the guidance of our Senior Accountant.
What will you be doing?
- Assist with monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Prepare routine journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Complete assigned month-end tasks on schedule and escalate issues.
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation, and CAPEX data.
- Assist with lease accounting.
- Assist with insurance administration.
- Provide backup support for accounts payable and coding.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prepare Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reports and tax schedules.
- Support internal and external audits (including ISO and J-SOX).
- Follow internal controls and raise exceptions promptly.
- Respond to routine financial queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify process simplifications and automation initiatives.
- Protect the confidentiality of sensitive financial data.
Do you have the following skills and experience?
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or Commerce.
- A background in Accounts Payable, disbursements, and General Ledger.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel literacy and strong computer skills.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle JDE preferred) and Converga.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and initiative.
- Effective communication and strong time management skills.
