Details: Victim Support ACT (VSACT) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced advocate with excellent communication skills to join our team at the ACT Human Rights Commission. Working under the direction of the Director, Client Services Team, this role will lead and manage a team of Victims Register Advocates to oversee the administration of the Adult Offenders Victims Register, the Youth Justice Victims Register and the Affected Persons Registers in accordance with the Charter of Victims Rights (the Charter) contained in the Victims of Crime Act 1994, the Crimes (Sentence Administration) Act 2005, the Mental Health Act 2015 and the Crimes (Sentencing) Act 2005.

The Victims Register Assistant Director will:

- Manage a small team of frontline staff to provide trauma-informed support and advocacy to victims of crime.
- Lead the delivery of the Adult Offenders Victims Register, Youth Justice Victims Register and the Affected Persons Register in accordance with relevant legislation and best-practice service delivery.
- Utilise data collection and reporting and contribute to the identification of gaps and trends that highlight the need for agency training, practice, policy or law reform.
- be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and continued development of VSACT operational protocols for the three registers
- work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to advocate for the rights and interests of victims of crime and affected persons in accordance with the relevant legislation
- Carry a small caseload of registered victims and affected people whose matters are complex or high profile.
- Maintain records in accordance with the Victims of Crime Regulation 2000,



the TerritoryRecords Act 2002 and the Health Records (Privacy & Access) Act 1997.
- Other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the effective and productive operation of VSACT as reasonably required.

Eligibility/Other requirements: Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. Notes: This is a temporary position available from 23 November 2026 until 22 November 2027 with the possibility of permanency.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
