About the role

Story Bridge Hotel is seeking enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Managers to join our management team on a full-time basis. Located in the vibrant Kangaroo Point precinct of Brisbane, this is an exciting opportunity to help lead a dynamic hospitality venue and contribute to delivering exceptional experiences for our guests and staff.

As Assistant

Manager, you will support the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring our high standards of service, hospitality, and profitability are consistently maintained across all areas of the hotel.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee daily operations of the hotel, including front-of-house and back-of-house functions

- Manage and supervise staff scheduling, performance and development to ensure excellent customer service standards

- Monitor and control costs, inventory and stock levels to optimise profitability

- Ensure compliance with health, safety, licensing and hospitality industry regulations

- Handle guest inquiries and complaints professionally, resolving issues to maintain guest satisfaction

- Support the General Manager with strategic planning, budgeting and reporting

- Maintain venue cleanliness, maintenance standards and health and safety protocols

- Coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless operations across accommodation, food and beverage, and events

- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff members

- Contribute to marketing initiatives and revenue-generating activities

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality, hotels, bars, restaurants or a similar fast-paced environment

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage and develop diverse teams

- Excellent customer service orientation and proven ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism and diplomacy

- Solid understanding of hospitality operations, including food and beverage service, accommodation management and event coordination





- Proficiency in hospitality management systems and point-of-sale (POS) software

- Robust financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cost control and revenue management

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required

- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and Food Safety certification, or willingness to obtain these qualifications

- Problem-solving ability and a proactive, can-do attitude

- Relevant hospitality qualifications or certifications are desirable but not essential if you have substantial practical experience
