Azure Integration Platform Lead

Melbourne | Permanent | $190k-$200k + super | Hybrid

We are working with a large Australian organisation building a dedicated Azure Integration Services capability across a complex enterprise technology workplace.

Azure Integration Services is already in production across cloud, SaaS and on-premise applications. The next stage is to consolidate multiple integration environments and establish a single, governed enterprise integration platform.

We are looking for an experienced Azure Integration Platform Lead to take technical ownership of this capability.

This is not a pure architecture role and it is not a traditional people-management position. You will remain hands-on while working closely with Enterprise Architecture, Platforms, DevOps and engineering teams to shape how integration is designed, delivered and supported.

What you'll be responsible for

- Define and help deliver the target state for the enterprise integration platform
- Assess and rationalise multiple existing Azure integration environments
- Establish reusable integration patterns, standards and engineering guardrails
- Work alongside the Enterprise Architect to review and challenge integration designs
- Provide technical governance across BAU and project delivery
- Ensure new integrations align with the enterprise target state
- Lead the consolidation and migration of existing integrations
- Set standards around resilience, observability, security and supportability
- Remain hands-on across complex engineering work, POCs, code reviews and production issues
- Lead and mentor a small team of Azure Integration Engineers

What we're looking for This role requires someone with significant experience specifically in enterprise integration, rather than a general software engineering background with some integration exposure.

Ideally, you will bring:

- 10+ years across software engineering and/or integration
- Deep hands-on experience with Azure Integration Services
- Strong experience across Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus and APIM
- Experience owning or helping establish an enterprise integration platform
- Strong understanding of APIs, pub/sub, asynchronous messaging, orchestration, idempotency, retries and dead-lettering
- Experience defining integration patterns, standards and governance
- Strong knowledge of observability, distributed tracing and production support
- Experience across CI/CD and controlled enterprise release environments
- Confidence challenging architects, vendors and project teams when required
- A genuinely hands-on engineering background

You do not need to be an Enterprise Architect. You do need enough integration depth to work alongside one, challenge design decisions where appropriate and translate architecture into practical, supportable engineering standards.
