Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.
The Team & Role The Career Medical Officer (CMO) provides high-quality clinical care to patients attending the Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Care Centre (UCC) across Bayside Health’s Wonthaggi, Cowes and Leongatha campuses.
Working under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director of Emergency Department,
Consultant or Clinical Lead, the CMO is responsible for the assessment, management and ongoing care of patients, while contributing to the effective operation of the ED and UCC.
The CMO will also provide support, guidance and supervision to junior medical staff and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and patient-centred care.
The role will be broken down into 50% Wonthaggi ED ND and the remaining 50% to be worked across the RCG ED & UCC’s. You may be required to work across alternative campuses in accordance with service needs.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
· A medical qualification recognised in Victoria, Australia
· Current medical registration
· Current ALS qualification
· Demonstrated clinical skills, knowledge and experience being at least 2 years emergency registrar experience or equivalent
· Superior interpersonal, consultation, negotiation and communication skills
· Valid police check
· Valid WWCC
· Current medical indemnity insurance that covers procedures
Desirable
· Evidence of enrolment or intention to enrol in a Certificate or Diploma of Emergency Medicine or equivalent
· Paediatric experience including resuscitation
