BOARD CHAIR

Voluntary Non-Executive Director Position

Your Lifestyle Centre

Beenleigh and surrounding communities, Queensland

Help shape the future of community aged care.

Your Lifestyle Centre is seeking an experienced and values-driven leader to join our Board as Chair.

For more than 40 years, Your Lifestyle Centre has supported seniors in our community to remain independent, connected and actively involved in their communities. From our beginnings as a local senior citizens centre, we have grown into a diverse community organisation delivering aged care, allied health, transport, respite, home maintenance, social support, community programs and Meals on Wheels services.

As we enter an important new phase in our organisation’s development, we are establishing a contemporary, skills-based Board to provide solid governance, strategic leadership and oversight.

About the role The Chair will lead the Board in fulfilling its governance and strategic responsibilities while fostering a constructive, respectful and accountable Board culture.

Working collaboratively with fellow Directors, the Chief Executive Officer and the Executive Team, the Chair will help guide the organisation through continued aged care reform, service growth and organisational development.

Key responsibilities include:

- Providing leadership to the Board and ensuring it operates effectively
- Facilitating inclusive, focused and well-informed Board discussions
- Supporting the Board to maintain clear strategic direction and oversight
- Promoting strong governance, accountability and ethical decision-making

- Maintaining an effective and professional relationship between the Board and Chief Executive Officer
- Ensuring the Board provides appropriate oversight of organisational performance, risk, compliance, quality and financial sustainability
- Supporting effective succession planning and ongoing Board development
- Acting as an ambassador and advocate for Your Lifestyle Centre and the communities we serve

About you

We are seeking a Chair who brings sound judgement, integrity and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of older Australians.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Previous Board, committee or senior executive leadership experience
- Demonstrated leadership and meeting facilitation skills
- Experience within aged care, community care, health, disability or a related human services sector
- A strong understanding of contemporary corporate governance and the responsibilities of Directors
- The ability to provide strategic oversight while respecting the operational responsibilities of management
- Experience leading organisations through growth, reform or significant change
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- An understanding of risk management, regulatory compliance and organisational accountability

- A team-oriented leadership style and the confidence to support constructive challenge and robust discussion

Experience chairing a Board or governance committee within a regulated, not-for-profit or community services environment will be highly regarded.

Our purpose and values

At Your Lifestyle Centre, we start with the person, not the service. We believe the future of aged care is not something we wait for; it is something we help create.

Our work is guided by person-centred practice, respect, integrity, excellence, inclusion and community. We are seeking a Chair who shares these values and wants to make a meaningful contribution to the future of community-based aged care.
