The Clinical Nurse (CN) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of post anaesthetic patients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. This role works autonomously within the Healthcare Team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of PACU specialist nursing care. The CN provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research.

The role supports in management activities including portfolio responsibilities.

About The Team The Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) is an area of high acuity, centrally located within the Operating Room Suite, providing up to 24 stage one beds. Nursing staff are also required to facilitate recovery of patients in Remote locations throughout the hospital setting, including radiation therapy, burns lists and occasionally remotely located procedural lists in other hospitals.

Staff employed in PACU provide quality and safe post-operative care of the paediatric patient at an advanced level. They display sound clinical management skills to meet the needs of paediatric patients with complex cares and comorbidities. They are skilled practitioners that are required to recognise, evaluate and implement nursing care in response to clinical deterioration.

About The Role In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values .





You'll fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award - State 2015 - Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 6 Band 1 and the Queensland Health and Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQHHS) commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
