We're seeking experienced, motivated Cloud Engineers and/or Architects to help deliver a portfolio of ICT projects supporting the sustainable growth of Australian industries. You'll shape enterprise and solution architecture for Microsoft Azure and M365, work shoulder-to-shoulder with cross-functional delivery teams, and have real influence over how secure, reliable, citizen-ready systems get built.

This is a hands-on architecture role with genuine strategic weight — you'll set the technical direction for cloud platforms, mentor engineers, and help embed standards across everything that ships.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures for Microsoft Azure and M365.
- Develop high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems.
- Produce detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineers.
- Assess the impact of user and stakeholder requirements on solution design.
- Ensure enterprise and system solutions maintain adherence to standards.
- Provide technical guidance and input into the design and build of cloud-based systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams — business owners, scrum masters, business analysts, developers, enterprise architects and testers — to deliver solutions that meet stakeholder needs and project objectives.
- Partner with the Service Experience team to ensure architectural decisions account for user experience.
- Align with Enterprise Architecture to keep solutions on target architectures and technology.
- Provide expertise in platform automation — testing, continuous integration and deployment.
- Champion core enterprise architecture principles for cloud platforms: re-use before buy/build, configure over customise, open data/access over siloed functionality.
- Bring strategic thinking, leadership and influence to every engagement.
- Take on additional duties as required.

About You





You bring 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies, and you're just as comfortable deep in architecture with engineers as you are translating it for non-technical stakeholders.

Essential

- Cloud experience across the Azure stack — Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Service Bus and Azure API Management.
- Azure DevOps for code development, management, repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments.
- Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
- Experience integrating cloud-based systems with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM.
- Azure networking, security and identity management — Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role-Based Access Control.
- Robust cultural fit — comfortable working with geographically dispersed teams and with technical and non-technical staff at all levels, with a track record of collaborating and mentoring to keep teams working well together.
- Genuine Agile experience — delivering secure, user-friendly and reliable solutions with multidisciplinary teams, and the flexibility to pragmatically shift direction and scope as new information, challenges or opportunities emerge.
- 5+ years implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies — liaising across cross-functional teams to develop and manage enterprise and application-level Azure architectures, and providing impact analysis and technical guidance aligned to standards.

Desirable

- A demonstrated track record of technical leadership across project and operational work.
- Broad experience and understanding of cloud-based technologies and architectures.
- Experience in application and integration, or infrastructure platform architecture.
- 3+ years designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems; experience with AWS and/or GCP is a bonus but not essential.
