Role Description The CNC Machinist Apprentice is an on-site role.
You will begin with assisting the set up and operation of CNC machines, under supervision, including loading materials, selecting tools, and running production jobs according to engineering drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and inspecting parts, performing basic machine adjustments, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and documenting work in line with workshop procedures. The role also involves learning to interpret technical drawings,
understanding machining processes, and supporting experienced machinists and fabricators with general workshop duties.
Apprentices will be expected to follow safety guidelines, participate in training, and contribute to continuous improvement in production and quality.
Qualifications
- Foundational technical skills in mechanical aptitude, basic hand tools, and an interest in CNC machining and manufacturing processes is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced industrial setting.
- Good communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work effectively in a team-based workshop setting.
- Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to company procedures and quality standards.
- Relevant vocational studies, trade school, or technical training in machining, engineering, or manufacturing (completed or in progress) is beneficial.
- Interest or prior exposure to CNC programming, CAD/CAM is advantageous.
