Sai Events and Solutions Pty Ltd, trading as Nomadis and Events and Catering, is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to work at the busy kitchen of the Ravenshoe Hotel.
The successful candidate must be capable of preparing high-quality meals consistently and working efficiently in a fast-paced pub and bistro environment.
Major duties and responsibilities
- Plan and develop menus in consultation with management and senior kitchen staff
- Prepare, season and cook a range of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Monitor the quality of dishes throughout preparation and presentation
- Ensure meals are prepared and served promptly during busy service periods
- Manage food portions and presentation to maintain quality and consistency
- Estimate food and labour requirements and assist with controlling kitchen costs
- Order food supplies and inspect ingredients upon delivery for quality and freshness
- Monitor stock levels and maintain appropriate stock rotation
- Store food correctly and minimise waste
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and other kitchen staff
- Train and support junior kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food preparation and safe work practices
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen
- Ensure compliance with food-safety,
hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
- Cater for dietary requirements and special customer requests
- Assist with functions, events and high-volume service when required
Skills and experience Applicants should have:
- A relevant commercial cookery qualification, preferably Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent qualification
- At least two years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen
- Experience working in a busy pub, hotel, bistro or similar environment
- Robust food-preparation, cooking and presentation skills
- Sound knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
- Good communication, time-management and teamwork skills
- The ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
A competitive salary will be offered based on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. Visa sponsorship may be considered for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.
About You:
You will ideally have previous experience as a Chef/Chef de Partie in a hotel, restaurant or similar hospitality environment. You will be organised, reliable and passionate about producing quality food, with the ability to work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team.
