JP Recruitment have partnered with a leading manufacturer of quality steel building products to assist with the continued expansion of their Perth operations. We're currently seeking an experienced Nightshift Loader Supervisor / Team Leader to oversee a small team of loaders based in the Swan Valley region.
This is a hands-on supervisory position, working 7:00PM to 3:30AM, Monday to Friday. Payrate on offer is $45.50 an hour.
You'll be responsible for leading a 3-man nightshift loading team, ensuring customer orders are picked, packed and loaded correctly, safely and on time, ensuring warehouse operation runs smoothly. View to permanency after 16 weeks.
About the Role
Working closely with the warehouse and dispatch operations, you will be responsible for supervising the nightshift team and managing the workload from start to finish.
Your duties will include:
- Leading and supervising a 3-man nightshift loading team
- Planning and managing the nightly workload to ensure all orders are completed on time
- Coordinating the picking, packing and loading of customer orders
- Safely loading and unloading trucks using forklifts.
- Handling and securing ugly freight, including irregular, oversized and heavy steel products
- Ensuring freight is loaded correctly and securely to prevent damage during transport
- Operating the overhead crane to safely move and position steel products
- Monitoring team performance, productivity and adherence to protected work practices
- Training and supporting new loaders as they join the team
- Assisting with the recruitment and hiring of new nightshift loaders
- Maintaining a clean, organized and safe warehouse and loading area
About You
We're looking for an experienced loader, warehouse operator or team leader who is confident taking responsibility for a small team and managing the workload of a busy nightshift operation.
You will have:
- Proven experience in a loading, warehouse or dispatch setting
- Strong and demonstrated experience handling ugly freight
- Previous experience loading and unloading trucks
- Experience operating an overhead crane desirable
- A current LF Forklift License
- The ability to safely handle heavy, awkward and oversized steel products
- Previous experience leading, supervising or training a small team
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to priorities workloads
- A good understanding of workplace health and safety
- A reliable and hands-on approach to work
- Good communication skills and the ability to lead by example
- Experience within a similar position managing staff
You will need to be comfortable being the person responsible for the nightshift operation, making decisions, allocating work and ensuring the team stays on track throughout the night.
