Skillforce Recruitment are seeking experienced Trade Assistants with Basic Mig Welding Experience for Temp to Perm roles based in Bibra Lake
About the Role
MIG Welding & Structural Modification
Because the company builds custom modified units (such as dangerous goods containers, workshops, and site offices), TAs perform routine MIG welding and steel fabrication tasks.
Cutting & Prepping: Altering heavy corrugated steel walls to prepare for current fixtures.
Component Installation: Using MIG welding to seamlessly attach heavy-duty parts like side-entry personal doors, security windows, and louvred vents.
Internal Fitting: Welding interior additions such as bunded floors for hazardous liquids, custom structural shelving, securement ties, and internal storage bins.
Container Maintenance & Structural Repairs
Shipping containers frequently come back from mining, commercial, or industrial rental sites needing structural refurbishment
Welding patches over compromised or damaged steel panels
Repairing or replacing damaged locking bars, door hinges,
and heavy corner castings.
Straightening and reinforcing structural steel rails.
General Workshop Support & Tool Operation
As a Trade Assistant, you support the overall flow of the fabrication workshop under the guidance of qualified boilermakers or fabricators.
Power Tool Usage: Extensively utilising grinders (for weld
preparation and smoothing), plasma cutters, drills, and measuring equipment
Material Handling: Operating heavy equipment like forklifts or overhead hoists to safely move steel sheets, framing material, and parts around the yard
Housekeeping: Keeping work bays clear of metal slag, off-cuts, and debris to ensure strict workshop safety compliance.
