As we continue to grow, so too does our team. We are looking for the right candidate to take on the role of Commissioning Engineer and Field Service Representative. This is a Full-Time role based in our Port Macquarie shipyard on the beautiful Hastings River.
Position Overview The Commissioning Engineer is an integral part of the engineering team, tasked with activities to support the test & verification of the platform as well as general engineering activities as required.
Key Accountabilities:
- Examine customer requirements and support the development, design and integration activities ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and technical requirements.
- Create and review test procedures to verify compliance to the contractual, regulatory and technical requirements.
- Collaborating with approval authorities and suppliers to get the test plans approved.
- Create and contribute to the development of contract deliverable data items in the Engineering and Verification disciplines.
- Contribute to the process of tracing, tracking and verification of requirements.
- Review design, supporting documentation and understand the installation procedures.
- Collaborate with design leads and understand any surveillance points required.
- Review manuals and collaborate with suppliers to confirm hold point.
- Create and execute commissioning plans and procedures.
- Collaborate with production and Project team to ensure commissioning sequencing can be achieved.
- Verification of vehicle system operations (Level 2 – Integration testing support)
- Preparation of commissioning records, test records, defect reports, and technical documentation.
- Support the test and trials program as key interface point between Engineering, Project and Production to ensure support is in place.
- Proactively promoting quality, environmental responsibility & safety within the workplace, encouraging an outcome of Birdon being a place of work by choice.
- Actively participating in the continued growth of the business.
**Qualifications, Experience and Skills Essential.**
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance technical, operational, and commercial considerations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities, with a track record of effectively engaging stakeholders and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with design software, simulation tools, and project management methodologies commonly used in project environments.
- Proactive manner demonstrating solid commercial aptitude and interpersonal skills.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, identify work priorities in a constantly changing environment.
- 5 years experience in filed representation as primary technical point of contact.
Desirable.
- Formal training in leadership, organisational change management and behaviour.
- Ability to develop system documents, process standards, and high-level reporting.
- Anticipate future commercial need for design and confidently propose it to the business.
- Ability to develop technical documents, technical manuals, and drawings.
- Understanding of military and government project documentation standards.
