About the Role:

Persian Halal Restaurant is seeking a talented and passionate Cook to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, cooking and presentation of all dishes within our kitchen and ensuring all dishes meet company and food safety standards before serving.

Responsibilities

- Checking the freshness and quality of meat, vegetables, rice, herbs and other ingredients before preparation.
- Preparing, seasoning and cooking Persian dishes, including kebabs, rice dishes and stews, according to the restaurant’s recipes and menu.
- Controlling oven, grill and other cooking equipment temperatures to achieve consistent results.
- Portioning and plating meals with appropriate sauces, accompaniments and garnishes.
- Checking the flavour, cooking consistency and presentation of dishes before service.
- Preparing meals to accommodate allergies and special dietary requirements.
- Maintaining halal food handling practices during preparation, cooking and storage.
- Storing ingredients at appropriate temperatures and rotating stock to maintain freshness.




- Monitoring portion sizes and minimising food wastage.
- Assisting the Manager with menu updates and estimating ingredient requirements.
- Providing guidance and training to other kitchen staff as required.
- Maintaining clean kitchen areas and equipment and following food safety and hygiene procedures.

Requirements

- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of relevant full-time work experience
- A minimum of 3 years full-time relevant work experience is required if no formal qualification

Skills/Attributions

- Experience preparing Persian cuisine, with knowledge of traditional dishes, spices, marinades and cooking techniques, is highly desirable.
- A passion for cooking, strong culinary skills and attention to presentation.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and prepare orders consistently.
- Robust planning, organisational and time management skills.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively in a busy kitchen.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a hot kitchen environment.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
