SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Cook on behalf of our client, an established Indian restaurant located in Wollert, Victoria. Offering a diverse menu inspired by traditional Indian flavours and cooking techniques, the restaurant provides customers with freshly prepared curries, tandoori dishes, Indian breads and other popular favourites. With a strong focus on quality ingredients, authentic flavours and consistent presentation, the business provides both dine-in and takeaway options within a busy and customer-focused workplace.

Location – Wollert, Victoria 3750
Salary - $79,000 - $89,000 plus superannuation per annum
Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent THE ROLE:
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Cook to join this busy kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong experience in authentic Indian cuisine and tandoori cooking who takes pride in preparing consistently high-quality meals in a fast-paced restaurant setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Prepare, season and cook a wide variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications, established recipes and quality standards.
· Support the Chef with the preparation of menu items, ensuring consistency in flavour, portioning and presentation.
· Prepare meals to accommodate individual dietary requirements, allergies and culturally specific needs where required.
· Monitor and regulate cooking equipment temperatures to ensure dishes are prepared safely and to the required standard.
· Portion and finish dishes appropriately, including the use of sauces, garnishes and presentation techniques.
· Prepare marinades, masalas,
curry pastes and sauces from scratch using traditional ingredients and cooking methods.
· Prepare and cook Indian breads and tandoori dishes using traditional clay tandoor ovens.
· Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness throughout food preparation, cooking and service.
· Assist with stock management, food storage and rotation to maintain freshness, correct temperatures and minimise wastage.
· Assist with ordering kitchen supplies and monitoring stock levels to support efficient kitchen operations.
· Work closely with Chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared accurately and delivered within required service times.
· Maintain a clean, organised and safe workstation throughout each shift.
· Follow Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures to maintain a safe and compliant kitchen environment at all times.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
· Relevant qualification, such as a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or agreed equivalent).
· Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Cook, ideally in a busy Indian restaurant.
· Experience in tandoori cooking, preparing advanced marinades, masalas and curry pastes and sauces from scratch.
· Experience in preparing and cooking Indian breads, including the safe operation and maintenance of traditional clay tandoor ovens.
· Willingness and ability to prepare and cook a variety of proteins, including beef, lamb, mutton and pork as required by the menu.
· Demonstrated knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation and presentation.
· Sound understanding of and commitment to food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
· Experience with menu costing, ordering and receiving of kitchen supplies, monitoring stock levels, and implementing stock control practices to minimise food waste.
· Ability to remain organized and perform effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen.
· A positive, team-focused attitude with a genuine passion for producing high-quality food.
· Available to work across weekday evenings and weekends.
WHAT IS ON OFFER:
· A competitive salary of $79,000 to $89,000 plus superannuation per annum.
