SMART Paintworx is looking for an experienced automotive spray painter to join our workshop in Green Fields.
We are not a crash repair shop. This role is focused on completing small to medium cosmetic paint repairs to a consistently high standard, including bumpers, panels, scratches and minor dents.
We need someone who can confidently manage each repair from the initial assessment and preparation through to colour matching, painting, polishing and final inspection. You must be able to select the correct repair method and produce a clean finish that blends seamlessly with the surrounding paintwork.
Quality is more significant to us than simply pushing jobs out the door. We are looking for a tradesperson who takes genuine pride in their work and wants every finished repair to represent both their own standards and the reputation of SMART Paintworx.
About the role
Your work will include
- Small to medium cosmetic paint repairs
- Bumper, bar and panel repairs
- Scratch and minor dent repairs
- Preparation, sanding, masking and priming
- Colour matching and paint mixing
- Basecoat and clearcoat application
- Blending into surrounding paintwork
- Polishing and finishing repairs
- Assessing jobs and selecting the appropriate repair process
- Checking completed repairs before the vehicle is returned to the customer
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area
- Taking care of workshop tools and equipment
You will have the support of an apprentice who can assist with preparation, sanding, masking and other day-to-day tasks. You will be expected to organise their assistance effectively and help develop their skills while maintaining control of the quality of each job.

- Have solid automotive spray-painting experience
- Be experienced in cosmetic or SMART repairs
- Be capable of completing repairs independently from start to finish
- Have strong colour-matching, blending and refinishing skills
- Produce clean, consistent and professional work
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Be organised, reliable and punctual
- Take genuine pride in their workmanship
- Work well independently and as part of a small workshop team
- Understand the safe handling of paints, solvents and workshop equipment
- Be willing to assist and mentor an apprentice
