About the Role
We are looking for a Counsellor or Social Worker to join a multidisciplinary team supporting high-complexity participants referred through employment service providers.
This is a mix of counselling, case management and advocacy, so candidates need to be comfortable working across all three areas. Social Workers will be expected to provide counselling, while Counsellors will be expected to undertake case management and advocacy.
The work is complex and varied, with participants experiencing issues including domestic violence, AOD, housing/homelessness and complex mental health.
Locations:
- 3 days Bendigo
- 1 day Heathcote
- 1 day Castlemaine
Some travel between locations will be required. Castlemaine is approximately 30 minutes from Bendigo. The clinician works onsite within the job provider's offices, rather than from the organisation's own office, so being comfortable building relationships with the employment consultants and provider team is important.
Client Group
Participants are generally high complexity and often long-term disengaged from services/employment.
The role isn't about pushing participants into employment when they're not ready. A lot of the work is focused on addressing the underlying issues and barriers first, for example, supporting someone experiencing DV to become safe and stable before they can look at their next steps.
Key Requirements
- Social Work or Counselling background
- Comfortable with case management, counselling and advocacy
- Strong rapport-building and communication skills
- Comfortable working with complex needs
- Able to build relationships with employment consultants and job providers
- Confident working independently onsite
- Good personality and ability to engage people who may be difficult to engage
- Must be comfortable working across DV, AOD, housing and complex mental health presentations
Experience: Previous experience in support work, community services, advocacy, customer service or sales/networking can be valuable, particularly for candidates who are confident building relationships.
Support:
The organisation has a robust clinical support structure:
- 2-week full-time onboarding before seeing participants
- Training delivered by the Clinical Lead
- Close Clinical Lead involvement for the first 8 weeks
- Clinical review of work during the initial period
- Ongoing in-house supervision, generally fortnightly or monthly
Other Information:
- Lived experience is welcomed and valued
- Relocation candidates may be considered depending on costs
- Melbourne-based candidates could be considered if relocation is viable
- Approx. $10,000 is a potential relocation support amount
- Potential sponsorship options may be available depending on the candidate's circumstances
- Working with Children Check required
- Must have AASW or equivilent counselling accreditiation
Recruitment Process: The organisation is keen to see suitable CVs and arrange interviews quickly, with an ASAP start for the successful candidate. Please apply to the ad or contact Melissa Carson or Katie Lucas on
