We’re looking for an experienced Design Manager to join a growing construction and development business in Brisbane.
This is a hands-on role with involvement across the full project lifecycle, from early concepts and development approvals through to construction delivery and completion.
You’ll work closely with development, construction and project teams, while managing consultants and coordinating multiple design disciplines to ensure projects are delivered with the right balance of quality, cost, compliance and constructability.
Key responsibilities will include
- Leading and managing external consultants throughout the design process
- Coordinating architectural, structural, services and other design disciplines
- Managing design programmes in line with overall construction programmes
- Reviewing designs for regulatory compliance, buildability and project requirements
- Leading authority approvals throughout development and construction
- Providing input into project costings and leading value management initiatives
- Working closely with development and construction teams to identify and resolve design issues early
- Improving in-house design standards, systems and documentation
- Supporting quality assurance and ensuring designs align with relevant construction standards
- Driving design outcomes that improve time, cost and quality across projects
- Producing and reviewing design documentation using AutoCAD, Revit or similar platforms
- Supporting innovation in project delivery, including modular and scalable construction methodologies
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Strong Design Management experience within construction, development or a related environment
- Experience managing consultants and multidisciplinary design teams
- A strong understanding of constructability, approvals and building compliance
- Commercial awareness and the ability to balance design quality with project budgets
- Strong project planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to design challenges
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit or similar design software
- Solid communication skills and the ability to work across development and construction teams
