About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our Day Program team at our Yagoona location. This is a part-time position of up to 30 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, with shifts typically between 9:00am and 3:00pm, and some shifts commencing at 8:00am.

In this role, you will support people with disabilities to participate in meaningful activities, build independence, develop social connections, and achieve their personal goals. Working as part of a supportive team, you will provide direct care and assistance while helping participants access community, recreational, and skill-building opportunities that enhance their wellbeing and quality of life.

Key responsibilities

- Provide direct personal care and support to clients attending the day program, assisting with activities of daily living as required

- Support clients to participate in group activities, and recreational programs tailored to their individual needs and interests

- Facilitate social inclusion and community engagement by supporting clients to access local community facilities and participate in outings

- Monitor and respond to clients health, safety and wellbeing needs throughout the day

- Assist clients with communication, mobility and other support needs in a patient, respectful and empowering manner

- Maintain accurate and timely records of client support provided, activities undertaken and any incidents or observations

- Work collaboratively with other team members, program coordinators and families to ensure consistency of care and support

- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and welcoming day program environment that promotes client dignity and choice

- Follow all relevant policies, procedures and guidelines including duty of care, confidentiality, NDIS code of conduct, and safeguarding protocols

What we're looking for





- Certificate III in Disability Support or Certificate III in Community Services (or equivalent relevant qualification)

- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR certification (or ability to obtain these)

- Genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and commitment to person-centred care

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues

- Demonstrated ability to work with patience, empathy and respect for clients' individual needs, preferences and cultural backgrounds

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate record keeping

- Reliability, punctuality and professional conduct with a flexible attitude to work scheduling

- Physical capability to provide personal care and mobility assistance, including standing, lifting and assisting clients as required

- Valid Working with Children Check (WWC) clearance or willingness to obtain this

- NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain this

- Previous experience in disability support, aged care, community services or a related field is highly valued
