About the role.

As Distribution Manager, you will lead the short-term planning and day-to-day inventory movements for our Smithton Plant’s cold storage operations. You will manage the people, resources, systems, and activities required to maintain a safe, compliant, efficient, and customer-focused distribution operation.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will play an important leadership role in strengthening safety and quality standards, developing team capability, improving operational performance, and ensuring products move accurately and efficiently through the site.

What you'll be doing.

- Lead the day-to-day operations and forward planning of inventory movements within the Cold Store/Drystore.
- Promote and continuously improve the site’s health and safety culture through incident reporting, hazard identification, employee involvement, and visible leadership.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, environmental, legislative, local authority, and corporate requirements.
- Monitor adherence to relevant quality specifications, systems, and plant programs, ensuring deviations are reported and investigated.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives that deliver sustainable operational improvements.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities and collaborate with relevant teams to implement practical solutions.
- Develop team capability through coaching, training, performance planning, and participation in company development initiatives.
- Participate actively in plant communication forums, including department meetings, changeover meetings, Managing Daily Improvement walks, compliance walks, and A3 opportunity walks.
- Oversee key operational systems and processes, including Warehouse Management Systems, SAP, pallet management, product movement control, and shipment-related systems.
- Establish clear priorities, remove operational obstacles, and lead the team to achieve its safety, quality, service, cost, and performance targets.

What you'll need to be successful.

- Demonstrated leadership experience within distribution, warehousing,



cold storage, manufacturing, or a related operational environment.
- Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Experience working with food safety and quality systems, including HACCP and GMP.
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems, SAP, and environmental management systems.
- Ability to understand, maintain, create, and update operational documentation.
- Strong organisational, communication, and people leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and with stakeholders at all levels.
- A results-focused approach, with strong logical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes across a variety of operational projects.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required to support the needs of the operation and team.

About the team.

Based at the Smithton Plant, you will report directly to the Plant Manager and lead the resources supporting the site’s cold storage and distribution activities. You will work closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to coordinate inventory movements, maintain compliance, improve operational performance, and meet customer and business requirements.
