We are seeking an experienced EL1 Technical Lead – Workforce Modelling & Analytics Capability to provide technical leadership across the design, development and continuous improvement of workforce modelling, forecasting and analytical systems within a national government environment.

This is an chance for a highly capable technical professional who combines data development, modelling, solution architecture, technical leadership and systems thinking to deliver analytical solutions that support workforce reform and evidence-based decision-making.

About the role

Working within the Future State Modelling team, you will translate complex workforce, policy and operational questions into robust, scalable and maintainable modelling and analytical solutions.

You will develop technical products, analytical frameworks and reusable solutions while establishing appropriate standards, documentation, testing and governance practices.

Using enterprise-approved Microsoft tools and services, you will apply strong technical problem-solving and systems thinking while also mentoring others, sharing knowledge and strengthening modelling capability across the team.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities may include

- Designing, building and maintaining workforce modelling, forecasting and analytical solutions.
- Translating complex workforce, policy and operational challenges into practical, scalable technical products.
- Applying advanced technical problem-solving, solution architecture and development skills.
- Developing analytical frameworks and reusable technical solutions.
- Establishing technical standards, documentation, testing, quality assurance and governance practices.
- Maximising the capability of enterprise-approved Microsoft tools and services.
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Working collaboratively with policy, workforce, operational and technical stakeholders.
- Identifying opportunities to improve modelling, forecasting and analytical systems.





About you You will be an experienced technical professional with strong capability across data, modelling, analytics and solution development, together with the ability to think strategically about how technical solutions are designed and sustained.

You will ideally bring

- Demonstrated experience designing and developing complex modelling, forecasting, data or analytical solutions.
- Advanced technical problem-solving and strong systems thinking capability.
- Experience developing robust, scalable and maintainable technical products.
- Experience with Microsoft enterprise tools and services.
- Strong understanding of technical documentation, testing, quality assurance and governance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring, coaching and developing the technical capability of others.
- The ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgement and manage competing priorities.
- Experience with workforce modelling, workforce forecasting or workforce analytics would be highly regarded.
- Experience within government or another large, complex environment would be highly regarded.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in data, analytics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, information technology or a related discipline would be desirable.

Roles are full-time business hours, the client maybe open to part time hours for the right candidate. It is available at EL1 equivalent of $602.55 per day plus super. Hybrid options are available after training, with base offices available in any NDIA office Nationally including Brisbane, Geelong, Richmond, Newcastle and Surry Hills. These positions are through to 31st December 2027 with the possibility of extension.
