Our client is an established Electrical and Structural Solutions manufacturer with a strong reputation for delivering quality engineered products and solutions.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Tester to join the manufacturing team and play a key role in the inspection and testing of switchboards, switch rooms and other electrical products.
You will work closely with the workshop, drafting, project management and estimating teams to ensure products are safe, fit for purpose and meet the required quality and Australian Standards.
This is a hands-on role where your electrical knowledge and ability to read and interpret electrical drawings will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and test electrical equipment, switchboards and electrical products.
- Conduct testing in accordance with the requirements of each product.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Ensure products comply with relevant Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439.
- Verify that equipment and components are suitable and fit for purpose.
- Work closely with the workshop to ensure products meet quality and project timeframes.
- Collaborate with drafting, project management, estimating and other internal teams.
- Assist customers, colleagues, suppliers and contractors with product testing where required.
- Identify and report technical issues, non-conformances, safety concerns and potential hazards.
- Ensure testing is conducted safely, including appropriate isolation, test-for-dead and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Ensure testing equipment is calibrated, operational and suitable for use.
- Assist with electrical equipment maintenance when required.
- Participate in site work and customer visits as required.
- Provide technical support and guidance to workshop staff.
- Maintain accurate communication regarding project and testing status.
- Assist with investigating and closing out non-conformances.
- Follow relevant safety procedures, quality systems and standard operating procedures.
About You
- Experience testing switchboards, switch rooms, electrical panels or similar equipment.
- Solid ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439.
- Understanding of electrical testing procedures and safe isolation practices.
- Experience working within an electrical manufacturing, switchboard, industrial or similar environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to identify technical issues and provide practical solutions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with workshop and project teams.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a wider team.
