About the Role
This is a excellent time to be joining St John Qld as we continue to build a ‘best in class’ Servicing and Replenishment function.
We are currently looking for a casual Test & Tag Technician based in Brisbane to join the Servicing team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working independently, travelling to different customer sites and making sure electrical equipment is safe, compliant and fit for use.
You’ll be responsible for conducting electrical safety inspections and testing of portable electrical equipment across a range of workplaces, while providing friendly and professional service to our customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
The technician will also:
- Conduct Test & Tag inspections and electrical safety testing of portable electrical appliances and equipment.
- Identify and assess electrical hazards, damage and defects.
- Apply appropriate testing procedures based on appliance classification and equipment type.
- Accurately record test results and maintain customer asset registers.
- Apply test tags and clearly identify equipment that has passed or failed testing.
- Identify unsafe or defective equipment and communicate findings to customers.
- Complete testing documentation and reports accurately and efficiently.
- Travel to customer sites throughout the region, including offices, commercial premises, community organisations and other workplaces.
- Build positive relationships with customers and represent St John Ambulance Queensland professionally.
- Assist with other related field services when required.
- Establish and maintain relationships with all key customers.
- Assess and provide advice to customers on their needs and compliance to WHS Codes of Practice.
- Develop sales opportunities with focus on repeat business through contracts and service agreements.
- Promote St John to the broader community, including identifying opportunities for other St John products, equipment and services.
About You
- Essential Qualification: UEERL0003 – Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies
- Demonstrated competency in inspecting, testing and tagging electrical equipment in accordance with AS/NZS 3760.
- Safety-conscious and committed to doing the job correctly, not simply quickly.
- Mechanically minded with a good understanding of electrical equipment and common workplace hazards.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own daily schedule.
- Physically capable of handling, moving and testing a range of equipment.
- Confident communicating with customers and explaining issues in a clear and professional way.
- Organised, reliable and able to accurately complete paperwork and electronic records.
- Comfortable using technology, mobile devices and testing/reporting software.
- Proficiency with MS Office and CRM software (experience with Salesforce is ideal).
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong organisation, coordination, time management and record-keeping skills.
- Practical knowledge of Work Health & Safety legislation and relevant codes of practice (incl. First Aid).
- Hold a C Class Drivers licence, and be able to obtain a Blue Card and satisfactory National Police Check.
- Flexibility to regularly travel within the assigned region is critical.

- Casual position – hours to be discussed/negotiated
- Work within normal business hours Monday to Friday but some out of hours may be required to meet client needs
