About D&N;

D&N; Geotechnical is a growing national geo-environmental consultancy with established offices in Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. Our geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists and environmental scientists work across a diverse range of projects throughout Australia.

Our environmental team provide support and advice on assessing and managing risk associated with contamination and environmental hazards across infrastructure, industrial, residential and commercial development projects.

We are continuing to grow our environmental services and are seeking an Environmental Scientist with 1–2 years’ professional experience to join our team.

About the Role

This is an opportunity for an early-career Environmental Scientist to build on their existing consulting experience while developing their technical and project delivery capabilities within a multidisciplinary geotechnical and environmental consultancy.

Working alongside experienced environmental scientists, engineers and geologists, you will contribute to the delivery of environmental assessments and investigations, as well as environmental monitoring and remediation projects.

The role will provide exposure to both field and office-based work, with increasing responsibility as your experience develops.

Key Responsibilities

· Undertake environmental fieldwork and site investigations, including soil, water and other environmental sampling and monitoring.

· Assist with contaminated land investigations and environmental assessments.

· Coordinate and undertake environmental monitoring programs.

· Assist with the interpretation and management of environmental data.

· Contribute to the preparation of technical reports,



assessment documentation and project deliverables.

· Liaise with clients, contractors, laboratories and other project stakeholders as required.

· Assist with the coordination of subcontractors and field activities.

· Maintain accurate field records, sampling documentation and project information.

· Contribute to project administration and delivery in accordance with agreed timeframes and budgets.

· Work collaboratively with D&N;’s environmental, geotechnical and engineering teams.

· Uphold D&N;’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental processes.

About You

We are looking for an Environmental Scientist who has developed a foundation of practical consulting experience and is keen to continue building their technical skills and professional capability.

· A degree in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.

· 1–2 years’ relevant professional experience, preferably within environmental consulting, contaminated land, environmental assessment or monitoring.

· Practical fieldwork experience, including environmental sampling and monitoring.

· An understanding of environmental investigation and assessment processes.

· Emerging experience in technical report writing.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate project records.





· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to develop skills in industry-specific software such as Esdat, Gint and Surfer.

· A valid Australian driver’s licence.

· Full Australian working rights.

· A willingness to travel to regional locations for project work when required.

Previous experience with contaminated land investigations, environmental monitoring, remediation or civil/infrastructure projects will be viewed favourably.
