Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships specialises in the employment of apprentices and trainees with our clients, along with the delivery of nationally accredited training.

We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for upcoming Civil Construction Traineeships in the Cairns region, QLD, specialising in bridge and road construction and maintenance.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build a hands-on career in civil construction while working towards a nationally recognised Certificate III in Civil Construction (RII30920).

Civil construction is a physically demanding industry, and trainees will be required to work outdoors in conditions that may be hot, dirty and dusty. The role may also involve rotating day and night shifts and working away on an 11 days on, 3 days off roster.

Successful candidates will receive excellent above-award pay rates, with the potential to earn overtime and penalty rates.

What We Can Offer You

- Ongoing support, coaching and mentoring throughout your traineeship

- Excellent pay rates and working conditions

- Learn to maintain and rehabilitate bridges and structures

- Learn to construct and rehabilitate roads and road furniture, including road marking

- Develop skills in planning and organising work

- Use hand and power tools safely

- Develop effective workplace communication skills

- Learn safe and compliant construction work practices

- Gain practical, hands-on experience in the civil construction industry

Mandatory Requirements

- Construction White Card (can be completed prior to commencement)





- Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport

- Ability to work rotating day and night shifts

- Ability to work away on an 11 days on, 3 days off roster

- Strong commitment to completing a Certificate III in Civil Construction (RII30920)

- Self-motivated with the ability to demonstrate initiative

- Must live in the Cairns, QLD region

About You

We are looking for applicants who:

- Have a genuine interest in hands-on work and a desire to build a career in construction

- Are motivated, reliable and willing to learn

- Have general labouring experience (advantageous but not essential)

- Have competent numeracy and literacy skills

- Have completed Year 10 or equivalent

- Can work effectively as part of a team

- Are committed to completing both the theoretical and practical components of the qualification

Prior to an offer of employment, successful applicants will be required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including a drug and alcohol screen, and be deemed fit for work.
