Purpose of the Role

BGIS is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation and service delivery of a major aviation client at Brisbane Airport. Reporting to the Technical Operations Director, you will work closely with client and BGIS teams to support contractual outcomes, guide operational staff and Self-Perform trades, and ensure facilities operate safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. ✈️

This is a busy and varied account that would suit someone steadfast and consistent, who enjoys bringing structure and calm to a fast moving environment. You'll have genuine scope to shape improvements, build trusted relationships, and make a real difference to how the site runs day to day.

The ideal candidate will be approachable, resilient, and people-focused, with strong operational experience, sound commercial understanding, and the ability to work comfortably alongside a wide range of personalities.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee day-to-day facilities operations and service delivery across the site.
- Support and mentor operational staff and Self-Perform trades, encouraging teamwork and professional growth.




- Ensure contractual KPIs and service delivery obligations are consistently achieved.
- Support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial outcomes alongside the Finance Manager.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance, pricing, and compliance.
- Review reactive and additional works to ensure accurate scoping and charging.
- Oversee essential services compliance, reporting, and statutory maintenance obligations.
- Support WHS and environmental requirements, promoting safe work practices across all stakeholders.
- Build positive relationships with client representatives, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement and innovation opportunities across the site.
- Participate in a rotating on-call roster and manage after-hours call outs as required.

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential

- Experience within facilities management, property, or integrated services environments.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience overseeing site-based teams and subcontractors.
- Sound commercial and contract understanding, including financial reporting and budgeting.
- Advanced understanding of technical legislation relating to facilities maintenance.
- Experience working within QA, WHS, and environmental systems.
- Warm and effective communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Comfortable adapting to change and taking a flexible approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CMMS platforms.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call roster.

Desirable

- Experience within aviation or another complex, high-risk industry.




- Formal tertiary qualifications in Property, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline.
- Industry-recognised qualifications in Building or Facilities Management (TAFE, Tertiary, or Property Council).
- Facilities Maintenance Management, Project Management, or Property Management qualifications.
- Training in current WHS, QA, and environmental legislation and systems.

Workplace Flexibility This is a full-time, permanent position based on-site at Brisbane Airport, with free onsite parking available. The role operates during business hours Monday to Friday, with participation in a rotating on-call roster including after hours and weekend support. ? Why Join BGIS?
