FAMILY SERVICES SPECIALIST DISABILITY PRACTITIONER

The Family Services Specialist Disability Practitioner role is part of the BCHS family services team and sits across the North Central Family Services Alliance. The role works in partnership with a number of alliance organisations to provides specialist disability support, NDIS expertise and capacity building across the Family Services sector.

Key Responsibilities

- Support families to access NDIS and disability services.
- Provide specialist consultation and guidance to practitioners.
- Deliver training and capacity-building activities.
- Build strong partnerships across disability, health, education and community sectors.
- Advocate for children and families experiencing vulnerability.

Essential Requirements

- Degree qualification in Social Work, Community Services or related discipline.
- Demonstrated NDIS and disability sector experience.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
- Current Working with Children Check and Driver Licence.

To successfully apply for this position you will need to address the following;

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

- Minimum Bachelor level qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Community Welfare or Community Development related discipline.
- Experience in delivery of a collaborative service in conjunction with partners.
- Strong understanding of disability, family services and child wellbeing frameworks.
- Experience working in and extensive knowledge of the NDIS and disability support systems.




- Have an in-depth knowledge around the changing nature or the sector and NDIS funding structures
- Ability to provide consultation, coaching and capacity-building support to skilled and families.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership development skills.
- Commitment to child safety, cultural safety, inclusion and Aboriginal self-determination principles.
- Active commitment to the development and maintenance of a learning environment and cohesive multi-disciplinary team and engagement in team meetings, staff development, supervision and reflective practice
- A current employee Working with Children Check and Driver’s Licence.
- The successful applicant will be required to undertake and complete a Satisfactory National Police Check.

Desirable

- Post graduate qualifications in social work, Family Therapy, Psychology or related fields.
- Five or more years experiencing in the disability sector.
