Finance & Administration Manager
Devonfield Enterprises Inc. | Devonport, Tasmania
SCHADS Award – Level 6
Employment type: Full time
Help lead the financial and administrative engine behind an organisation that makes a difference
Devonfield Enterprises Inc. has supported people with disability across North and Northwest Tasmania since 1959.
We are looking for an experienced Finance & Administration Manager to join our leadership team and work closely with our Chief Financial Officer.
This is a broad, hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys making things work better. You will oversee Devonfield’s day-to-day finance and administration functions, lead a capable team, strengthen systems and controls, and turn financial information into practical insights that support better organisational decisions.
You won’t simply be maintaining existing processes. We are looking for someone who can see opportunities, improve the way we work and help build finance and administrative systems that are efficient, accurate and scalable.
What you’ll be responsible for
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead the operational finance and administration functions across Devonfield, including:
- overseeing general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll operations;
- delivering accurate and timely month-end reporting, management accounts and variance analysis;
- managing cash flow, working capital, debtors and creditors;
- supporting annual budgets, rolling forecasts and financial planning;
- maintaining strong financial controls, compliance and governance processes;
- coordinating audit requirements and liaising with external stakeholders;
- overseeing payroll accuracy, compliance and reporting;
- supporting Board, Executive and operational reporting;
- improving finance and administrative systems, processes and automation;
- supporting ERP/accounting system optimisation and continuous improvement; and
- leading, mentoring and developing our Finance, Payroll and Administration teams.
This is a role with genuine organisational reach.
You will work closely with leaders across Devonfield, helping them understand financial performance and supporting sound operational and commercial decision-making.
About you
We are looking for someone who combines strong financial capability with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
You will ideally bring
- a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline;
- at least five years’ experience across finance, accounting or business administration;
- demonstrated experience managing end-to-end finance operations;
- strong management accounting, reporting and analytical skills;
- experience working with senior leaders or executive teams;
- confidence managing payroll, financial controls and compliance requirements;
- strong systems capability, including accounting/ERP platforms and advanced Excel skills;
- experience improving processes, implementing systems or supporting organisational growth;
- strong communication and relationship-building skills; and
- the ability to lead a team with transparent expectations, accountability and support.
A CA or CPA qualification, or progress towards one, is highly desirable.
What will make you successful here
You will be someone who is comfortable being both hands-on and strategic.
You can move from reviewing financial results and identifying a risk, to helping a manager understand their budget, to working with your team on improving a process.
You’ll bring attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture, and you’ll be willing to challenge inefficient ways of working rather than accepting “that’s how we’ve always done it”.
Most importantly,
you’ll understand that Finance and Administration are there to enable the organisation — providing accurate information, reliable systems and practical support that helps our people deliver better outcomes.
