Primary objective
Provide financial analysis, strategic financial management advice, financial modelling and system support to the enable effective financial management of the Department’s resources.

Extensive experience and leadership is required to provide expert financial management advice with a commitment to deliver outcomes within strict timelines. A key contributor working in a small skilled team.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Provide leadership and drive the achievement of required outcomes ensuring services are being delivered effectively,
efficiently and sustainably to clients and NT Health on contemporary financial policy initiatives to assist in meeting agreed financial targets,
productivity and efficiencies.
- Provide financial expertise in a dynamic, high transaction environment, including budget development, financial reporting and analysis and continuous process improvement to strengthen compliance and internal controls.
- Responsible for the development of budgets, financial reports and analysis, within stringent timelines and assuring integrity and accuracy of data.
- Maintain compliance with the agency's financial and reporting obligations under the Financial Management Act, Treasury Circulars,
other NT legislation as well as relevant Commonwealth legislation and Agreements.
- Undertake research and project work to support the Director of Finance, with a commitment to achieving quality outcomes.
- Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Provide support to the wider Financial Services team in delivering financial services and advice to deliver on mandatory obligations,
corporate initiatives and strategic objectives.
Selection criteria
Essential
- Demonstrated expert understanding in contemporary accounting, budget and financial management, analysis,
monitoring and reporting, while implementing and developing budgets in line with agreed resource strategies and performance targets relating to expenditure
- Ability to apply highly developed analytical, research and interpretive skills to develop practical, innovative solutions to complex financial and budget management related problems.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, manage tight and conflicting deadlines often with limited direction, to produce quality outcomes.
- Proven ability to prepare high-level documentation for executives and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across an organisation and with external stakeholders, with highly developed communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to interact, negotiate with influence effectively to achieve outcomes and relay technical and complex information clearly and effectively.
- Demonstrated advanced ability in the use of finance systems, including accounting software, the Microsoft Office suite and reporting tools to enable financial analysis, modelling and costings.
- Experience in leading staff, including performance and workflow management to meet team deliverables.
Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or related business discipline
- Experience in an appropriate finance role at a Senior Level and experience working in the Public Health Care Sector.
