About the role

Smartrak is a fleet telematics and EV fleet management SaaS business operating across Australia and New Zealand. As we continue to grow and evolve, we're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our leadership team and help drive the next stage of our success.

Reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you'll be a trusted adviser to the business, providing strategic financial leadership, commercial insight, and guidance that supports informed decision-making.

This is more than a traditional Finance Manager role. You'll combine financial stewardship with commercial partnering, leadership, and business improvement. You'll inherit a capable and highly engaged finance team of three direct reports, giving you the opportunity to focus on developing capability, influencing business performance, and contributing to strategic initiatives across the organisation.

Working closely with leaders across the business, you'll strengthen financial planning, improve visibility of performance, identify opportunities and risks, and help ensure Smartrak is well positioned for long-term success. You'll also play an important role in future initiatives spanning finance systems, billing processes, automation, AI adoption, and broader business transformation.

If you enjoy influencing decisions, building strong teams, improving performance, and making a genuine impact, we'd love to hear from you.

About You

You're an experienced finance leader who understands that great finance teams do more than report results. They help the business make better decisions.

You combine robust commercial judgement with a practical, hands-on approach. You're comfortable analysing complex information, identifying trends, challenging assumptions, and providing recommendations that create value.

You communicate with confidence and credibility. Whether presenting financial performance to executives, facilitating planning discussions, or helping operational leaders understand key business drivers, you're able to translate financial information into clear, meaningful insights.

You're comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve and business needs change. You can balance strategic thinking with operational delivery while maintaining a focus on outcomes.

You enjoy leading and developing people. You create clarity, build accountability, and help others grow and succeed.

You're naturally curious and continuously looking for better ways of working. Whether through process improvement, technology, automation, or AI, you're motivated by opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Above all,

you're excited by the opportunity to contribute beyond finance and play a meaningful role in the future success of a growing SaaS business.

We're looking for someone who brings both expertise and fresh thinking to the table.

In Your Cover Letter, Please Include

1. Tell us about someone whose career benefited from being part of your team. What did you do to support their development?

2. One of Smartrak's company values that resonates most with you. Tell us why it matters to you and how you've lived it throughout your career.

Key Responsibilities

- Partner with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and business leaders to shape decisions through commercial insight and analysis.

- Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing finance team while building capability and succession depth.

- Own the company's budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance reporting processes.

- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis, and commentary for both Smartrak and Volaris Group stakeholders.

- Present financial performance, forecasts, key risks, and recommendations with confidence and credibility.

- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, governance, and reporting.

- Lead finance involvement in future finance, billing, and reporting system enhancements.

- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and key financial metrics to support business performance.

- Support acquisitions, integrations, and other strategic initiatives as required.

- Contribute positively to Smartrak's culture, leadership team, and broader business success.

What Will You Bring?

- CA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.

- Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar finance leadership role.

- Strong commercial acumen with experience partnering with leaders to improve decision-making and business performance.

- Experience leading and developing teams, including remote or geographically dispersed teams.

- Experience presenting financial performance, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to executive leaders, boards, investors, or corporate stakeholders.

- Experience in SaaS, technology, recurring revenue, or high-growth businesses will be highly regarded.

- Strong financial systems capability together with forecasting, planning, and financial modelling expertise.

- The ability to navigate competing priorities and balance local business requirements with broader group expectations.

- A mindset that is hungry, humble, and smart.

You are comfortable operating within a December year-end environment and understand the flexibility occasionally required during critical reporting periods, year-end activities, and public holiday periods.

This list represents what we are ideally looking for, and we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every requirement. Everyone brings different strengths, and we value capability, potential, and attitude alongside experience. We'd love to hear from you.
