We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly skilled and passionate French Teacher to join our Junior School team from Term 1, 2027. This is an ongoing teaching position, available as either a high part-time or full-time role, depending on the successful candidate's availability and experience.
This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is committed to fostering a love of language learning and cultural understanding in young learners from Kindergarten to Year 6.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality French language lessons for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
- Differentiate learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Foster student engagement through innovative and interactive teaching practices.
- Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to students and families.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes confidence, participation and language acquisition.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior School Languages Department to ensure continuity, progression and alignment of the French curriculum and learning outcomes from Kindergarten to Year 12.
- Participate fully in the life of the school community.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to contribute to the co-curricular life of the School.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth, innovation in teaching practice and the effective use of educational technologies.
- Commitment to the values and ethos of St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls and an understanding of the benefits of educating girls in a high-achieving learning environment.
Essential Criteria
- Appropriate teaching qualifications and current teacher registration (or eligibility for registration).
- Strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum: Languages (French), including familiarity with the revised curriculum to be implemented from 2027.
- Fluency in French, with exceptional oral and written communication skills in French.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills in English.
- Experience, or a demonstrated capacity, to teach French to students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
- A passion for language education and cultural learning.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to engage and inspire young learners.
- Right to work in Australia.
- A commitment to fostering positive relationships and contributing to a collaborative and professional learning culture.
Desirable
- Experience teaching French in a primary or junior school setting.
- Knowledge of contemporary language teaching methodologies.
- Experience integrating technology into language learning programs.
