About Us
IAG Defence & National Security (DNS) is part of IAG, a specialist advisory firm supporting complex infrastructure, Defence and national security programs across Australia. Our DNS team works closely with Commonwealth agencies and industry partners to deliver specialist expertise into nationally significant programs. Our success depends on our ability to identify, engage and mobilise highly specialised talent quickly and effectively.
IAG is recognised as a Veteran Friendly Employer under the Veteran Employment Program.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced Gateway Engineer to maintain and support network gateway components for a national security agency, based in either Canberra or South Australia. This is an APS6-equivalent technical role -- you'll ensure network architectures are implemented to defined standards, contribute to recovery and contingency planning, and play a genuine hands-on part in safeguarding the organisation's network through incident investigation and security controls.
You'll work closely with ICT teams, translating logical designs into physical solutions and providing detailed technical advice up to senior executive level. Given the sensitive nature of the setting, not all work areas can accommodate remote work, so your working arrangement will depend on the specific team you're assigned to. Successful candidates will also be required to complete an Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement, and the hiring vendor must hold current Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support specific network components using agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology
- Translate logical designs into physical designs that meet specified operational parameters for capacity and performance
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategies, operational policy, procedures and change initiatives
- Provide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to senior executives
- Contribute to the development of recovery routines and contingency procedures
- Contribute to alternative network architectures, networking topologies and design options
- Identify risks arising from potential technical solution architectures, designing alternate solutions or countermeasures
- Investigate suspected attacks and support security incident management
- Provide guidance on the application and operation of elementary physical, procedural and technical security controls
Required
- Ability to complete ASD's Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement
- APS6-equivalent experience level
- Demonstrated experience in the design and deployment of network infrastructure, including Cisco Data Centre technologies (ACI, Routers, Nexus switches) and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Demonstrated experience with or detailed understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions
- Technical proficiency in designing services using F5/Blue Coat/Citrix NetScaler/Broadcom SWG Layer 4-7 switching, load balancing and proxy systems
- Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of VPN technologies,
email and DNS (Infoblox) solutions
- Demonstrated experience in the design and integration of hybrid and public cloud services
- Knowledge of Australian Government information security policies, the ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight highly regarded
Salary
$115,000 - $120,000 (Package incl. Super)
Engagement Details
Onsite -- work from home is not always available, depending on assigned team. 12-month engagement, with extension options available.
