Innisfail Medical Centre is a privately-billing, established General Practice located in Innisfail, QLD, about 1 hour south of Cairns. We have 5 fellowed GPs and 2 trainee GP registrars, 1 full-time RN/soon-to-be Nurse Practitioner and 2 part-time RNs. We pride ourselves on fostering a positive workplace that supports learning and growth. We are aiming to grow our workforce to meet the demand for quality General Practice in our community.
About the role
Our nurses work collaboratively with our GPs to look after a broad spectrum of patients. We see "Cradle to Grave" medicine. Training and support will be provided and prior experience in General Practice is not required as we are happy to help you upskill into this rewarding role.
Key responsibilities
- Administering injections and immunisations, including children (upskilling course supported)
- Assisting with procedures including skin cancer excisions, Mirena/Implanon insertions
- Running iron and Aclasta infusions
- Wound care both simple and complex
- Preventative health promotion and chronic disease management,
including preparation of health assessments and GP Chronic Disease Management Plans
- Holter monitors, ECGs, audiology
- Recalling patients for results, responding to phone calls from patients
About you
- Tertiary Qualification (EN or RN) with current AHPRA registration
- Friendly, reliable and work well in a team
- Good communication skills
- Computer competent
- Interested and motivated to learn the role of a Practice Nurse in a General Practice setting
