About the ROLE
- Location: Brisbane
- Permanent Full-time Role
nxzen collects high-density aerial LIDAR data covering the whole of Tasmania, greater Sydney, large parts of remote NSW and potentially other areas. You will be part of nxzen’s Digital Reality team who are tasked with collecting the data, building a digital twin, and extracting high value information from the dataset. You will be responsible for providing advanced analytical, modelling and mathematical support for developing technical solutions.
You will be required to develop and implement machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms, to support the processing, modelling, and analysis of remote sensing, spatial and big data datasets. You will also be required to work with the business team to support the design and development of data driven digital solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Apply robust mathematical and statistical methods to process, analyse and interpret remote sensing, spatial, and other structured/unstructured data.
- Apply and develop a range of algorithms and techniques to support the development of commercial solutions.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to extract commercial value from data or extend client value.
- Processing, cleansing and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis and business insights.
- Provide technical input and advice to solution engineering and architecture.
- Understand complex data structures and relationships and their alignment with the technical challenges, solution architecture and business strategy.
About YOU

What you’ll bring
- Experience developing innovative techniques and solutions to complex mathematical and technical problems.
- Experience applying or developing machine learning, artificial intelligence, image processing, and/or signal processing algorithms.
- Strong programming skills, with experience in languages such as Python, SQL, Julia, MATLAB, C , or JavaScript.
- An understanding of current trends in AI, machine learning, big data, analytics, and technology development.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and ideas clearly.
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage:
- Flight planning experience.
- Experience with power distribution or forestry industries.
- Google Cloud Platform (or equivalent) experience.
- Experience with geospatial applications preferably involving lidar and imagery.
- Demonstrated experience with processing, analysing and modelling remote sensing and spatial data.
- Experience with Geodesy.
- Construction of geometric models/extraction of information from point cloud and imagery.
- Familiarity with Linux systems.
- Familiarity with valuable programming practises eg. code reviews, git.
- Research and development (R&D;).
