Geotechnical Site Technician

D&N; Geotechnical is a specialist geotechnical consultancy delivering site investigation, testing, and ground characterisation services for residential, commercial, infrastructure, and renewable energy projects across Australia.

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Geotechnical Site Technician to join our growing Brisbane team.

This is a hands-on field-based role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating specialised equipment, and being involved in a range of geotechnical investigation activities. You will work closely with experienced geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists and gain exposure to a variety of investigation techniques and project types.

The role will involve undertaking geotechnical field investigations and testing, with a particular focus on dynamic probing, cone penetrometer testing (CPTu), drilling, sampling and associated field testing.

You will be an important part of the field team, helping to collect accurate and reliable information about subsurface conditions for use by our engineers and clients.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

- Safely operate and maintain geotechnical investigation equipment.
- Undertake dynamic probing, CPTu and other field-testing activities.
- Assist with geotechnical drilling, soil sampling and site investigations.
- Undertake field testing and assist with soil and material identification.
- Accurately record site observations, test results and field data.
- Assist geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists during site investigations.
- Prepare field records, photographs and other site documentation.
- Transport, set up and pack down field equipment as required.
- Maintain equipment in valuable working order and to a high standard of presentation.




- Ensure all field activities are completed in accordance with company HSEQ requirements and project procedures.
- Work effectively as part of a small field team across a variety of project environments.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

- Previous experience in geotechnical fieldwork, civil construction, site investigation, drilling, testing or a similar environment.
- Experience operating geotechnical equipment such as dynamic cone penetrometers (DCP), CPT equipment, drill rigs or similar machinery will be highly regarded.
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning to operate specialised geotechnical equipment.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- A willingness to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding field activities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- A willingness to travel to regional locations for project work when required.
- A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Construction Industry White Card.
- Australian working rights.
