An exciting opportunity is on offer for an experienced, innovative and highly team-oriented Head of Department - Humanities to provide strategic and instructional leadership across the Humanities faculty. In this role you will build positive partnerships with students, families, colleagues and the wider community, while effectively managing curriculum, staffing and departmental resources and ensuring alignment with school priorities, policies and legislative requirements.

We are looking for an inspirational educational leader who is committed to excellence in teaching, collaborative practice and creating meaningful learning experiences and outcomes for every student. This is a temporary full time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Beenleigh State High School has strong traditions in academic, cultural, sporting and agricultural activities, based around our motto of "Semper Altiora" and is recognised for its involvement in the local communities with students engaged in projects that both support and enhance the established community groups. Students are involved in both academic and vocational programs aimed at giving each student an opportunity to pursue their chosen career.

About the Role

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Educational leadership: Lead the department in developing and implementing a shared vision focused on high-quality teaching, learning and outcomes for all students.
- High expectations and professional growth: Establish high standards for student and staff performance while promoting continuous improvement, lifelong learning and professional development.
- Inclusive and socially just practice: Embed inclusive, equitable and socially just practices that support the wellbeing, participation and success of all students.
- Collaboration and partnerships: Build strong, productive partnerships with students, parents, staff, government agencies and community organisations to enhance educational opportunities and outcomes.
- Strategic and effective resource management: Provide future-focused strategic leadership while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies and effectively managing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve departmental goals.
