Description:

The Stage 6 Applied Pathways Lead is responsible for the specialised delivery and academic management of the Diploma of Business and Applied Entrepreneur Program as discrete applied pathways within the Lang Walker School of Business. This role ensures that students in both programs receive a rigorous, industry-aligned education that bridges the gap between traditional secondary schooling and professional business environments.

Key Accountabilities:

Cultural Leadership: Responsible for promoting and protecting the College’s vision, ethos and Presbyterian values across all aspects of school life by consistently modelling Christian values.

Strategic Leadership of the Subject: Develops a strategic vision for the Diploma of Business which aligns with the College’s academic standards and follows educational standards.

Operational Leadership of the Team: Stepping into a managerial role that focuses on overseeing student records, reporting and budgeting allocation, monitoring student performance, facilitating staff development, and ensuring, alongside key faculty and entity leaders, the compliance with NSW regulatory and RTO requirements.

Teaching, Pastoral Care, Co-curricular Activities, Personal Planning and Team Leadership: Participates in the teaching of Diploma classes and works closely with senior leadership through discussions.

Major Areas of Responsibilities

Cultural Leadership In conjunction with the Principal and other members of the College Leadership:

Promote, develop and protect the vision, beliefs,



ethos and educational tradition in every aspect of The Scots College life.

Wholeheartedly support the religious affiliation and spiritual life of the College.Create and maintain a climate of care and hospitality for all branches of the College family

Model Christian values in all dealings.

Encourage the development of social conscience as an essential aspect of the College operation.

Ensure that College policy and practice nurture respect for difference in all its forms - gender, race, talent, religion, culture.

Promote a sense of collaboration and affinity with the Presbyterian Church in general.

Leadership of the Pathways:

Lead the delivery of quality, excellence, and rigour in the Diploma's teaching programs and practices.

Ensure strict NESA compliance and adherence to RTO (Registered Training Organisation) standards for the Stage 6 Diploma and AEP programs, ASQA compliance requirements and other related standards.

Collaborate with the Caledonian Institute to translate educational research into localised, project-based learning activities that enhance student agency and performance.

Keep up to date with current vocational and educational developments in the business sector which lead to solid industry engagement for the leader, their team and the students.

Operational leadership of the team:

Hold regular continual improvement meetings, contributing towards the improvement register.

Oversee the electronic storage of Diploma and AEP teaching programs and student evidence records.

Implement College assessment and reporting policies, ensuring data is used to inform more effective teaching of business concepts.

Support the generation of timely, meaningful, and proof-read reports for Diploma students.

Oversee the program’s operational rigour by embedding robust compliance frameworks for RTO and other requirements ensuring 'compliance by design' underpins all assessment, documentation, and industry engagement processes including completion of relevant ASQA paperwork and ensuring that ASQA compliance requirements are met on an annual basis.

Monitor the academic progress of Diploma and AEP students and take appropriate action for those who are underachieving.

Manage the specific resources, guest speakers, and incursions/excursions required for the Diploma and AEP pathways.

Lead College initiatives, projects and programs – to be agreed on annually following discussions with the Head of Business School and the Director of Teaching and Learning (Senior School)

Undertake consistent professional learning (particularly in the area of ASQA compliance regulations),



keeping accurate records and providing professional support and mentoring to staff members teaching within the Diploma and AEP pathways.

Develop and implement annual personal professional goals that support the growth of the Lang Walker School of Business - reporting to its Head specific goals and student outcomes.

Manage allocated budgets for the Diploma and AEP programs to support the College's Strategic Intent.

Drive the personalisation of the student experience through the integration of psychometric profiling, goal-setting frameworks, and individualised mentoring pathways.

Teaching, Pastoral Care, Co-curricular Activities, Personal Planning and Team Leadership:

Teach assigned Diploma classes, participate in the College's pastoral care and co-curricular programs. take sporting/co-curricular activities – to be agreed on annually following discussions with the Head of Senior School, Director of Sport and Co-curricular, and the Director of Teaching and Learning (9-12).

Skills and Competencies:

Strategic change management: the demonstrated ability to lead structural change within a complex academic environment, successfully integrating disparate frameworks (e.g., RTO, NESA or equivalent).

Systems thinking and data fluency: the capacity to leverage quantitative and qualitative data to drive continuous pedagogical improvement and refine program design.

Commercial and industry acumen: a proven ability to build, manage, and leverage sustainable industry and tertiary partnerships to enhance student outcomes.

Pedagogical and coaching leadership: that is someone skilled in mentoring staff (and students) to bridge the gap between traditional disciplinary instruction and experiential, project-based learning.

High-stakes compliance and operations: with a meticulous approach to audit-readiness and quality assurance, with the ability to maintain program integrity under external scrutiny.

Knowledge:

Comprehensive knowledge of the Diploma of Business and AEP qualifications and related curricula such as Business studies, Legal Studies and Economics

Deep familiarity with compliance policies to maintain the programs accreditation

Essential Requirements The nature of this position is such that the Head of Subject is required to be available outside the ‘normal’ school hours and to participate fully in the life of the College, to attend meetings and make presentations when required and from time to time, could well be asked to take on extra duties that are assigned by the Principal. These extra duties will be discussed prior to implementation.
