You will lead training, access and emergency response systems across a major mining operation, working closely with the WHSE Manager, operational teams and service providers to ensure plans, procedures and working practices are effectively developed and implemented in the field.
The role will provide leadership across site training, induction, access requirements, safety assurance and emergency response, with a strong focus on identifying gaps, analysing data and driving practical improvements across the operation.
Working on a 14/7 roster, you will provide visible leadership across site and support strong health and safety outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead training, site access and emergency response systems across the operation
- Develop and conduct audits across site and monitor leading and lagging indicators
- Develop plans and provide advice to address identified deficiencies and trends
- Identify improvement opportunities and lead their implementation in the field
- Review safety system data for accuracy and address related issues
- Maintain site induction material and ensure it is integrated into induction software, including attendance records and reporting
- Ensure site access requirements are integrated across pre-employment screening, site passes, inductions, BAC and reporting
- Ensure access requirements are effectively managed for all personnel accessing site, including visitors
- Develop, implement and review emergency response plans and systems
- Provide emergency response leadership and support emergency preparedness activities
- Support the planning and leadership of work crews operating in high-risk environments
- Work collaboratively with the WHSE Manager, operational teams and service providers
About You
- Minimum 8-10 years' experience in health and safety, training, emergency response or related disciplines
- Proven experience within the resources, mining, major projects or heavy industry sectors
- Strong experience across safety systems, auditing and performance reporting
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing improvement plans in the field
- Strong emergency response planning and leadership capability
- Experience working with high-risk work environments and field crews
- Strong Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 capability
- Experience with SAI Global or similar safety management systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work effectively on a 14/7 roster
This role is suited to someone who can operate beyond simply maintaining existing safety systems. You will need to understand how to develop the system, engage the people responsible for delivering it, and ensure it works effectively in the field .
Experience within a major capital project, construction or mining setting will be highly regarded, particularly where you have been involved in developing systems and practices through project delivery, implementation, commissioning or transition into operations.
