About the role

We are seeking an experienced Hotel/Venue Manager to join our team at The Bush Inn in New Norfolk, Tasmania. This is a full time position that plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of our hotel and venue. As Hotel/Venue Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining high standards of service, and driving the profitability and reputation of the establishment.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee daily hotel and venue operations, ensuring smooth functioning across all departments including accommodation, food and beverage, and events
- Manage staff recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management to maintain a motivated and professional team
- Monitor financial performance, including budgets, revenue targets, costs, and profitability, whilst implementing cost-control measures
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, licensing requirements, and hospitality industry standards




- Develop and implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty, including managing customer feedback and complaints
- Coordinate venue bookings, events, and conferences, ensuring all arrangements meet client expectations
- Maintain and manage building maintenance, equipment, and facilities to ensure high standards are consistently met
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors to secure quality goods and services at competitive rates
- Foster a positive workplace culture that reflects our commitment to hospitality excellence and guest satisfaction
- Report on operational metrics and performance to ownership or senior management on a regular basis

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Hotel Manager, Venue Manager, or similar hospitality leadership role, ideally within a multi-functional establishment
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations, including accommodation management, food and beverage services, and bar operations
- Demonstrated financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, analyse performance data, and drive revenue growth
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members




- Outstanding customer service orientation and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with guests, staff, and stakeholders
- Proficiency with hospitality management systems
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements in the hospitality sector
- Experience in a regional or boutique hotel setting would be advantageous
