This role is expected to be 4 days a week with the flexibility to otherwise work 5 shorter days.
Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Our teams help clients to meet their goals and address underlying trauma and mental health issues, while also developing new skills to improve all aspects of their lives.
We provide a diverse range of services to individuals, families and community education. Our services include withdrawal services; one-on-one assessment and treatment by psychologists and counsellors; group therapy; residential rehabilitation; and free education at Odyssey College.

The HR Advisor delivers comprehensive operational continuity, tactical HR advisory, and employee relations support,
serving as a trusted advisor and key point of contact in close collaboration with the Head of P&C.; The position is responsible for balancing urgent daily operational requirements with contributions to Odyssey's broader, long-term strategic H.R initiatives. Operating under the guidance of the Head of P&C;, the role provides end-to-end employee lifecycle management, workers' compensation and return-to-work case management, and first-line advisory support for performance management and grievance resolution.
Additionally, the position acts as a key project team member for HR initiatives and provides critical operational coverage for Payroll and HR Officer functions when required.
- Proven generalist HR experience providing advice on policies and standard employee matters
- Experience creating standard performance and grievance management letters
- Experience coaching, supporting, or guiding others in workplace contexts
- Experience utilizing HRIS (ELMO, or similar software)
- Experience in payroll administration or similar administration
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills to establish trusted relationships across all levels of an organization and with a diverse range of people
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- High attention to detail with sound numerical skills
- Interest or experience work health and safety specifically psychosocial wellbeing
- High level of emotional resilience and excellent skilled boundaries to support employees working with a vulnerable population that may be living with mental wellbeing challenges or trauma
- Growth mindset with interest in continuing to build skills and knowledge base in relation to the role
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and access to a car
- Right to live and work in Australia
- National Criminal History Check (< 1 yr old)
