Mukka Indian Restaurant is a busy and well-established Indian restaurant in St Kilda, Melbourne. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Indian Chef to join our kitchen team.
We are seeking someone who takes pride in authentic Indian cooking, has strong kitchen skills, and can work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
About the Role
As an Indian Chef at Mukka, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality Indian dishes while maintaining consistency, presentation and food safety standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and cooking a range of authentic Indian dishes
- Working across curries, tandoor, breads, marinades and other Indian preparations
- Following recipes and maintaining consistent taste and presentation
- Managing food preparation and kitchen organisation
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety
- Monitoring food quality, freshness and portion control
- Working efficiently during busy service periods
- Supporting the Head Chef and wider kitchen team
- Minimising food wastage and maintaining stock rotation
- Following workplace health and safety procedures
About You The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as an Indian Chef
- Robust knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking techniques
- Experience working in a busy restaurant environment
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work well under pressure during busy services
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and consistency
- A positive, reliable and professional attitude
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
